In today’s world, scientific progress and its achievements has the direction that promises safety promotion and reducing risks in order to improve the quality of living environment and the preservation of life. Perhaps one of the greatest human fears is entrapping, burning and death in the fire. The fire as a destructive phenomenon, always plagued human society and has left irreparable material and moral losses. So humans since ancient times, according to facilities and conditions, try their best to inhibit it fully and comprehensively. The main task of fireproofing coatings is preventing or to be more precise prolonging the spread of fire and reducing the collateral and financial damages.

Types of Fireproofing Coatings            

Expanding solvent-based paints (Intumescent paint)

  1. These paints are a large drop of solvent-based coatings protective against fire for interior and exterior application. It is used in order to enhance the fire resistance of coating of steel columns and beams. In these colors, solvent id use for dilution. This type of Fireproof color and is more applicable for outdoor and humid environments.
  2. Expanding water-based paints (Intumescent paint)
  3. Fireproof coatings based on cement (Vermiculite)

Procedure:

To apply fireproof coatings on steel structures, after surface preparation first of all must apply the perfect primer on metallic structures and then apply fireproof coatings. This type of coverage is applied easily, in very short time and with different tools (including airless paint spraying equipment, brush and roller) and are applicable on all surfaces and fractures at any angle. The paint thickness depending on the type and form of structures, thickness, environmental controlling conditions, safety facilities and other factors can defined from about 5.0 mm to 2 mm. If the points of the surface covering by swelling fire coatings expose to hit and need to be repaired,‌ the surface can be restored easily even with a brush. The final level of fireproof coatings is a smooth surface. Though, after finishing coating process there is no need to pave the surface. In order to protect swelling fireproofing coatings using a suitable top fireproof layer of paint is recommended.
